Sat Feb 11 go with visitors?

We're looking forward to connecting with some new players and re-connecting with some others this Saturday, as Chinese New Year festivities wind down.

Looking toward the future, we've been encouraged by many people to move to a weekly rather than twice-monthly format. Mainly the idea is to make it easier for people to visit us without having to wonder whether it's an off or an on week. We probably wouldn't start this for another couple of months but let's talk it over before deciding one way or another.

See you @ 7pm this Saturday evening 2/11 in the Bayshore Atrium near Board Game Barrister.

Go Club at Bayshore this Saturday

Last Saturday, despite the snow on the ground, the tournament at the Domes New Year Festival successfully made contact with several new (but experienced) go players, as well as a number of intrigued high schoolers and their parents. 

This Saturday, we hope we can welcome some of these players (if they aren't at one of the several Chinese New Year's parties) at Bayshore at our usual time: 7pm near Board Game Barrister.

These next couple of weeks would also be a great time for beginners to sign up for lessons Sundays 4-5 pm at Marquette's LaLumiere Hall for the spring semester.  Go to mmcsweb.com and look for the 2012 Spring Registration link on the RIGHT SIDE of the page.

Go Club - Saturday, Dec 10th

This is just a reminder that the Milwaukee Go Club is meeting this Saturday, December 10th. We have a number of people who have said they'll be there, and we'd love to see the rest of you there as well! We meet near the Board Game Barrister at the Bayshore Mall, around 7:00 PM. Thanksgiving GO

Yes, the Milwaukee Go Club is meeting this post-Thanksgiving Saturday.  7pm by the Board Game Barrister in the Atrium at Bayshore (across from Starbucks, south of the Food Court).  Thanks to Aaron Zheng who organized a demo table at the Holiday Folk Fair!

First: this coming Saturday is go night at Bayshore (2nd Saturday of November). 
Glad to see some new faces!

Go Night takes place every 2nd & 4th Saturday

10/22 is a 4th Saturday

… so, see you at Go night! (every 2nd and 4th Saturday at Board Game Barrister in Glendale's Bayshore mall).

A reminder that go lessons are available on Sundays at 4-5pm in LaLumiere Hall Room 262 on the Marquette Univ campus.

For the first time this year, we have some opportunities to do go demos at the Holiday Folk Fair and spread the word about go.

Here are the time slots we have been given:

GO night: Yes, 9/24 is a 4th Saturday

First things first: This Saturday, 9/24 is a 4th Saturday, and thus it is a GO night. See you at Board Game Barrister inside Bayshore Town Center (Bayshore mall) anytime after 7pm! There's usually people playing till at least 8:30 but often quite a bit later than that. If you want to check, you can call Board Game Barrister and ask — 414-963-2100.  They're good for directions, too.

Second:  Somebody approached me and proposed that we host an annual 13×13 "express go" tournament to be held at the Mitchell Park Domes in January/February (near the Lunar New Year).  And we'll probably have some space at the Holiday Folk Fair for a demo sometime during that (weekend before Thanksgiving).

Third: There's still space in the go class Sunday afternoons at Marquette.  It's only $35 for the whole semester (Sept – January), which is a good deal.  Go to "register" at www.MMCSweb.com.

Milwaukee GO Club September news

Regular GO club meeting:  This Saturday 9/10 was our first meeting of the new school year.  Second and fourth Saturdays at Seven is the regular meeting time for the go club.

GO classes:  Kyu-level players may register for go classes that meet Sundays 4pm-5pm during the school year on the campus of Marquette University in LaLumiere Hall.  Register now at www.mmcsweb.com.  Click on Registration and follow the instructions there; look for the Extra Classes button and select GO.  It is only about $35 for the whole semester.  E-mail if you have any questions.
